Reflection on Grade 10 Information and Communication Technology
Looking back at my Grade 10 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subject, I realize how much it has shaped my understanding of technology and its role in our lives. What began as a subject I thought would simply teach me how to use computers turned into a meaningful learning experience that equipped me with practical skills, critical knowledge, and a new perspective on the digital world we live in.
Throughout the course, I acquired a range of valuable competencies that have already become part of my daily routine. In terms of core skills, I gained hands-on experience with productivity tools like Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. I spent time mastering document formatting, creating, and designing clear, engaging presentations. At first, I saw these as just requirements for completing assignments, but I quickly discovered their real-world value, track my progress in different subjects, and create materials for group projects with my classmates.
Of course, my journey in Grade 10 ICT was not without challenges. At the start of the year, I struggled to grasp some of the technical concepts. There were also moments when I felt overwhelmed by the amount of information we had to cover in such a short time. However, I found that by asking questions in class, working collaboratively with my classmates on group activities, and taking time to practice what I learned outside of school, I was able to overcome these hurdles and build confidence in my abilities.
The skills and knowledge I gained from this subject have already made a noticeable difference in my life. ICT has become an essential part of how I learn and communicate – I can now efficiently research topics for my other subjects, collaborate with peers on projects even when we can’t meet in person, and I’ve even started helping my family with basic tech problems at home. Moreover, the course has sparked my interest in exploring career paths related to technology, and I am now considering options like digital marketing or software development as I look ahead to senior high school and beyond.
As I move forward, I am aware that technology will continue to evolve at a rapid pace, so the skills and mindset I developed in Grade 10 ICT are just the foundation of my digital learning journey. I plan to keep exploring new tools, stay updated on emerging digital trends, and continue building my technical capabilities. I firmly believe that being tech-savvy will be crucial for my future, whether I pursue further studies or enter the workplace.
